272 steps to reach the Batu Caves

October 1, 2015 // 0 Comments

🇬🇧English  🇮🇹Italiano 🇬🇧Ready for my second day in Kuala Lumpur! Tim and I had a quick shower and went to the kitchen of the hostel to have breakfast, as in a lot of hostels in Asia, breakfast was toast with butter but we also tried the popular coconut jam called Kaya. Kaya means “rich” in Malay and it ‘s actually the perfect word for the coconut jam that is very thick, creamy  and sweet.

Kuala Lumpur

September 4, 2015 // 0 Comments

🇬🇧English  🇮🇹Italiano 🇬🇧 What can I say about Kuala Lumpur, also called KL? It was beyond my expectations! As I wrote in my previous post I flew to Malaysia only because I found a cheap flight, few backpackers that had traveled there told me it was not anything special. Well, I am glad I didn’t pay too much attention to their opinions! 🇮🇹Cosa posso raccontarvi su Kuala Lumpur, chiamata KL dai suoi abitanti?

Goodbye Indonesia, hello Malaysia

August 13, 2015 // 0 Comments

🇬🇧English  🇮🇹Italiano 🇬🇧I had spent two weeks and a half in Indonesia and it was time for a change. I wasn’t sure whether to go to Myanmar or straight to Thailand but when I checked the flights fairs I realised going to Malaysia would have been way cheaper. I booked a flight to Kuala Lumpur and left Indonesia 2 days later! WELCOME TO MALAYSIA!!!  My first impression of Malaysia was that I was in a more modern country than I had been before: nice roads, a lot of facilities, wifi everywhere… The second thing that I’ve noticed is that It’s a multicultural country, it’s litterally the whole world in one country! I loved that!

Kawah Ijen, the volcano with blue flames

July 24, 2015 // 2 Comments

🇬🇧English  🇮🇹Italiano   🇬🇧 I had read about it, seen pictures and videos of it and there was no way I could possibly leave Indonesia without seeing it! I am talking about Kawah Ijen which is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. Kawah Ijen is an active volcano that last erupted in 1999, it is popular for its blue flames but there’s so much more to see.

THE BIRDS MARKET AND RANDOM ENCOUNTERS

May 27, 2015 // 0 Comments

Quiet and normal days don’t exist in Indonesia… I was going to take it easy that day, I just wanted to visit the birds market and sleep but the unexpected happend: Le giornate banali non esistono in Indonesia… Can you see the man on the left? I met him as soon as I stepped out of my hostel, he’ s a Russian doctor and is volunteering in Indonesia, he was quite a character with his unbottened shirt and baggy trousers. He joined me and asked me to take pictures of him with my camera (I have like 20 pictures of him pretending to be Super Man with some locals, I am […]

My first crazy day in Yogyakarta

March 12, 2015 // 0 Comments

When I left Bali to go to Java I was not expecting adventures 24/7, I thought I would have taken my time and relaxed a bit but every single day on the island was unexpectedly crazy! I arrived in Yogyakarta the 28th of February, I left my backpack in the hostel and went to explore the city straight away. The first impression was not that good, I did not feel safe and the heat was killing me even if it was only 9 am.

Teaching english in Bali

March 3, 2015 // 0 Comments

I love kids, that’s why I enjoy to be an au pair so much, I really wanted to go to a school while I was in Bali, I just didn’t know how to get in one. The manager of the hostel where I was staying suggested me to just go to the local school and talk to the main teacher and ask him if I could teach English to the kids for a couple of hours. I did it and everyone was so happy to have someone to help the kids improving, Indonesian people are  very curious about us, they love getting into contact with us, especially if we can teach them something good.
